User talk:Bennmorland~enwikiquote
Add topicWelcome to Wikiquote. You have done good work with the Woodrow Wilson article, but I would like to recommend using the Wikimedia Commons as a place to find or upload any further public domain or GNU FDL images. ~ Kalki 05:24, 5 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Categories
[edit]Please do not link categories to Category:Categories but to the appropriate place in the category system. Using the poor analogy of a linked tree, Category:Categories is the single top-level category. From there, we have fundamental categories, main page categories and Wikiquote category as second level. Since your new categories are not featured on the main page and do not relate to Wikiquote, such as maintenance, faqs, etc., they go under the fundamental branch. I just collected several categories into Category:People there which is probably the next step in the subjects you have been working on. Look through the sub-categories there. - Hi, thank you for your participation to category discussion. I'm happy to see you there. More discussion, better designed, I hope. --Aphaia 01:29, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I noticed that you added/updated a "cleanup" tag to this article; I have completed an overhaul of the article, and I would appreciate your input. Thanks! Essjay 05:44, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Adding a VfD entry
[edit]Bennmorland, could you please use the "Submit a new request" link at the top of the Votes for deletion page when adding an entry? When you edit the last entry and add a new one to the section, unless you make a point of fixing the edit summary, your new entry appears in the page history as part of the old entry. This can make it difficult for sysops to track down problems (like illegal or unsigned votes) when we have to sift through the history. That's why we created the link and added guidance on using it in the instructions under "Requesting deletions". (Although I noticed that the instructions had the wrong text for the link; I've just fixed that.) Sorry to be a pain in the butt about it. ☺ — Jeff Q (talk) 10:14, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
VFD vote
[edit]You voted doubly on WQ:VFD#Category:Native Americans. If you withdrew the former, it is okay, but would you prefer to make it clear, for example, strike your former vote? And if you don't mix another vote there, it would be more convenient for us. Anyway a deletion vote need at least 14 days and you can't begin another vote on a vote for a certain candidate. Thank you for your understanding. --Aphaia 07:33, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- In answer to your question on VFD, Benn M, a common practice is to use HTML strikeout markup (<s>text</s>) to surround the vote you wish to strike. I'd suggest you do so to your undesired Delete vote and remove your request for assistance. (I'd do it for you, but it's usually best to let voters do it themselves, to avoid the appearance of vote tampering in the history.) You can leave the original text in place or strike it through as well; both forms have been practiced here. — Jeff Q (talk) 18:40, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Bennmorland. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Bennmorland~enwikiquote that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
