I'd say the job of cleaning up suspect edits is a thankless task except that I'm thanking you now: thank you for cleaning up suspect edits. Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 15:47, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
- You're welcome. Regards, —Hasley (talk) 16:06, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks
- Thank you for reverting the vandalism on my user page, I now it's just routine anti-vandalism, but still, after seeing votes for deletion routinely stretch over months (and in one case, a year), I am thankful whenever this Wiki operates the way it is supposed to: I think it helps us all look incrementally more professional and internally consistent.
I also kind of want to ask you ask you if you would ask Kalki for a definition of the "word salad" they have accused me of making, as I'm guessing that curt and hurtful colloquialism just means bringing up multiple topics of questioning, (which is typically referred to as a "gish gallop" in debates), asking you do that seems kind of petty though. Sorry for the double post, I should probably eat something before editing. CensoredScribe (talk) 15:14, 3 December 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for your message. I would be glad to help you. Unfortunately, I can't deal with this. Languages are borders for me: as a native Spanish speaker, I've limited English skills; I'm sorry. Cura ut valeas, —Hasley (talk) 17:34, 3 December 2019 (UTC)
Small typo
Hi Hasley, I read your User-page (which is on Meta) after seeing an edit you made AT WQ, and noticed a small typo (I think?) in the following sentence:
Feel free to check out my contributions and my logs to see what I have recently been up.
I am bringing this to your attention, as I normally do when I see such typos on a User-page. I hope you will take this posting as an attempt to be helpful and not as a trolling expedition on my part. Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 15:51, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, Ottawahitech, for pointing that out. I am not sure, though, how it should be worded—I am a non-native English speaker, and would be grateful if you could clarify this. Thank you again, and best wishes, —Hasley (talk) 17:13, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) You can say "Feel free to check out my contributions and my logs to see what I have been up to recently." --Ferien (talk) 17:15, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- This has now been fixed. Thank you both, —Hasley (talk) 17:33, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Your global lock of Username: Poistuuko Manu?
Hi Hasley, Even though your user-id sounds familiar, I cannot remember if I ever communicated with you. All I know is that you must be a WMF-Steward in order to globally lock Users on WQ. The reason I wanted to ask you about your lock is that the user in question has been helpful in the current Shesaid campaign, and was wondering if you are aware of this campaign that is now in its third year on ENWQ and is part of a global drive to entice more women to become an integral part of the many language wmf-wikiquote projects.
I wonder if you could explain to simple users, such as myself, why certain users who are basically providing wiki-gnome services here are pursued with such vigour by the Stewards. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on my dilemma.
Note: I will attempt to come back later to turn redlinks into blue ones Ottawahitech (talk) 15:08, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, Ottawahitech! I prefer not to repeat myself, but I will paste and slightly modify what I wrote elsewhere a while ago:
- Template:Blockquote
- I hope this clarifies things a little better. Best, —Hasley (talk) 15:39, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Hasley,
- I appreciate the information you provided above about User:Risto hot sir. I finally know now who instigated this whole chain of events. I understand that Risto was initially globally locked as a sock puppeteer on 20 August 2019 on the say-so of Praxidicae and Camouflaged Mirage, both of whom are Global sysops.
- I don't like to talk about other Users behind their backs, but I have deliberately not pinged these two individuals because I was led to believe that they wish to not be disturbed?
- User: Wim b who is the Steward who actually carried out the global locking has expressed their views on this matter on 19 December 2020 at enWQ admin noticeboard thus:
I've locked Risto hot sir per request for crosswiki abuse. Imho a user blocked in 5 projects is clearly problematic, then evading the global lock through socks is also a way to make fun of the rules that the global community has set itself. I am sorry when I have to block a user who until the day before was an excellent user, but in this case I would not even know how to justify an unblock, but I'll write an email to the other stewards to inform them of this discussion and let's see what comes out. --Wim b 10:20, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
- I am sorry to have to dump all this on your user-talkpage, Hasley. Unfortunately, it appears that at the time some admins on enWQ did not feel that the risto/Babe kebab discussion at AN was constructive, even though some ordinary WQers were obviously following it. The discussion was closed, IMIO prematurely, and any attempts to re-open it publicly were unsuccessful. So instead of an open and honest public discussion, this topic has gone underground and has been discussed on a large and growing number of user-talkpages. Please don't take it personally.
- I just ask that you tell us the answer to my original questions here:
are aware of this campaign [Shesaid campaign]
...explain to simple users, such as myself, why certain users who are basically providing wiki-gnome services here are pursued with such vigour by the Stewards. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on my dilemma. Note: I will attempt to come back later to turn redlinks into blue ones Ottawahitec h (talk) 15:08, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
- Also since you say English is not your first language, please feel free to ask me anything, if I have not made myself clear. Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 14:49, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I am aware of that campaign. That is absolutely irrelevant to the discussion. No one is pursuing certain users with such vigour. The problem is that Risto hot sir is being disruptive on multiple projects. They are using sockpuppets for circumventing sanctions, socks that are locked when found to stop such behaviour. Regardless of whether a problematic user like this is accepted somewhere or another, we cannot allow them to inflict damage at other projects. Since this has been explained numerous times, I will not comment further. —Hasley (talk) 16:54, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
