Deletion of articles

[edit]

I just happened to see that a new article (see: Suggestions for Zimbabwe -Matabeleland) has been proposed for deletion more than a week ago. Any thoughts on how to address this? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 15:04, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please join one discussion taking place now regarding a proposed deletion: Talk:Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1972 film)]. Thanks in advance, [[User:Ottawahitech|Ottawahitech] (talk) 17:25, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I have commented on the inclusion of this film as part of this project in the fourth topic, this page may have deserved saving, but not as part of this project. When I looked at the articles created or improved during SheSaid in 2022 on the project's main page, none of them is a work of fiction. CensoredScribe (talk) 17:57, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

May I ask if it possible to add the following in the General Suggestions area; WIKI QUOTES PROPOSED TOPIC: The Place of the girl child (Today, tomorrow and the Future) Possible areas include: • Popular quote that shapes a generation • Quotes born from Misconception, assumption, religion, politics • Quotes on the changing role or place of women in society DeLilGwashoper(talk) 22:36, 09 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@DeLilGwashoper: Why not go ahead and add to the list? Ottawahitech (talk) 14:29, 16 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Ottawahitech: I will add. Thank you for the recommendation. DeLilGwashoper (talk)

I clicked the link above to see how we are doing now, and even though we beat Project:Administrators' noticeboard (25 edits last month) its, we are (37) way behind Project:Vandalism in progress (146 ), sigh... Ottawahitech (talk) 12:39, 3 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
correction: I probably meant enwq not enwiki Ottawahitech (talk) 20:16, 25 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1972 film)?

[edit]

The top of the page (Articles about women that may be deleted (2021)) lists a movie, are movies part of #SheSaid? If that is so, than I would like to add Prey, however I am guessing that Alice in Wonderland (1972 film)'s inclusion is incorrect, and that removing it from the top of the page would help prevent similar additions in the future, although I would appreciate clarification before I do so. When Ottawahitech created the page for Roe v. Wade, they did not use the #SheSaid tag, nor did they in any subsequent page revisions. Does this mean Roe v. Wade is beyond the scope of this project but a cartoon is not? Including movies or fictional female identifying characters might be one of the better ways to increase involvement in #SheSaid, but if the reaction to Wonder Woman being the U.N. ambassador for women is any indication, including fictional characters may not be received particularly well by the many real women whose voices are marginalized and seldom repeated by the mass media.
I would appreciate any input from those more knowledgeable of #SheSaid, I really want to know more about it so I can apply the hashtag to edit summaries correctly. I shouldn't just be adding #SheSaid to every single edit comment, should I? Wouldn't that be considered vandalism by one of the administrator's? CensoredScribe (talk) 17:26, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@CensoredScribe:lookslike I was confused when I posted a reply to Deletion of articles, will have to check when IGET A CHANCE Ottawahitech (talk) 20:20, 25 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

WikiData: a gentle introduction for complete beginners

[edit]

A 3-hour video WikiData: a gentle introduction for complete beginners is available on the Bookshelf of Outreach wikimedia see: https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Bookshelf Ottawahitech (talk) with a PDF of the slides 17:26, 7 December 2023 (UTC) update Ottawahitech (talk) 17:33, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Well it appears that simply following the links can pay off!(if you have the time)
If you had the same kind of trouble I was having trying to listen to Wikidata: A Gentle Introduction for Complete Beginners by Asaf Bartov <asaf@wikimedia.org> here is a YouTube Video of this talk:
A Gentle Introduction to Wikidata for Absolute Beginners [including non-techies!.
Yes it has commercials, but at least one can pause this 3-hour lecture to go to the bathroom, etc., and then resume listening. I have not been able to pause and resume watching on the wikimedia version of this video which is available on commons
Enjoy, Ottawahitech (talk) 16:23, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Is anyone consulting this page?

Just wondering if any contributor of the shesaid campaign is looking at the suggestions for adding pages about women? Ottawahitech (talk) 18:01, 7 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
