Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Eric D Galero, and welcome to the English Wikiquote, a free compendium of quotations written collaboratively by people just like you!

To ask for advice or assistance feel free to drop by the Village Pump or ask on my talk page. Happy editing! And again, welcome!

Also, please stop prefixing a Filipino or Cebuano phrases to the images you have been adding here: this is the English Wikiquote project. Though there are some older pages reflecting earlier practices, for some years now, for the benefit of people using mobile devices, it has been preferred that there be only one image above the first section break on any pages, with any others below such breaks, as to minimize the inconveniences, deficiencies and problems of mobile software . ~ ♌︎Kalki ⚓︎ 09:29, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Images after the lead images should be added below the first section break, and for twenty years now most images have been added with quotes for captions, and only a relatively few new pages neglect this standard. Many of the pages to which you have added images to have only one quote and one image already, and there is no clear need for further images as yet.
I have been very rushed in recent days, and continue to be, but spent a frustrating bit of my time removing "Sya si" and other Filipino or Cebuano words from the images which have been added by this account and one other in recent days, and correcting GLARING errors such as 19th century images being used for 21st century people, and images of 21st century people being used for 19th century people. Some of these errors are so clear that I have suspected deliberate trolling and vandalism hidden among this large mass of recent additions — if you persist in adding images with non-English descriptors, or out of proper placement as has been practiced in recent years to accommodate the limitations of the mobile apps, you will be blocked. ~ ♌︎Kalki ⚓︎ 14:55, 12 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have blocked you for 2 days, because after explanations and warnings, you persist in insertion of images improperly above first section breaks, with non-English descriptions. I am in final preparations for a trip for a couple weeks, and will soon be traveling for the next day or two, and do NOT have time to do any corrections to your additions over the last couple of days. After I leave in a few hours it will likely be at least a full day before I can do any extensive editing here at all. ~ ♌︎Kalki ⚓︎ 10:24, 14 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

WQ:MoS

[edit]

Please read WQ:MoS before making changes in the format of pages. Specifically:

"Use the == style markup for section headings, not '''. Start with "==" (that's two equal signs)."

"Nearly everything in Wikiquote, except for article and section introductions, is a list. Specifically, all of the quotations are represented as elements in an unnumbered list, which is expressed in Wiki syntax by beginning a new line of text with an asterisk:

* First item
* Second item
** First sub-item of second item
produces:
  • First item
  • Second item
    • First sub-item of second item"

Translations, explanations, and citations should all be represented as subitems following the main item which is the quotation itself."

Editing tests 2

Please stop making unconstructive changes to Wikiquote. It is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Wikiquote exists for the collecting of notable quotations from people and works. For a quick overview of what Wikiquote is, read Wikiquote:Wikiquote, and also What Wikiquote is not for a list of common activities that Wikiquote does not support. When people are not interested in responsibly contributing to the development of the project incidents of their deliberate vandalism can result in their usernames or IP addresses being blocked from editing. Thank you. MathXplore (talk) 07:04, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
