Hi, welcome to English Wikiquote.

vandals[edit]

Aren't you a steward? You are welcome to block these vandals, even if for just a short time, while no local admin is around. ~ DanielTom (talk) 17:30, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is active admins around, so it's up to them to take action. -- Tegel (talk) 17:40, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is now, but not for many hours. If stewards can't step in and block obvious disruptive vandals, then what are stewards for? To award hats? ~ DanielTom (talk) 17:43, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

About TrophyWife[edit]

TrophyWife was not only intimidating and harassing. It was also vandalizing pages. I request that not only its block be extended to infinite, but that all its edit summaries be removed for the safety of other users. WikiLubber (talk) 20:40, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I picked one of the standard reason for blocking, but vandalising would have worked as well. The remaining action I leave to the local admins to handle. I just came by to stop the user as an emergency action. -- Tegel (talk) 20:59, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I sense a sockpuppet of TrophyWife. I can tell by this IP's (172.56.26.66) edit summaries. I request that it and all its IPs be blocked infinitely, and that all pages it edited on be protected until further notice. WikiLubber (talk) 14:24, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Some IP users are not only trying to mess with me on Wikiquote...[edit]

But it is also doing so on Wikipedia, on an account I abandoned. IP users: (94.14.157.19) (90.192.125.203) (90.194.50.210) (176.26.72.117) (90.194.55.144) I request that all these and all other IPs it uses be blocked indefinitely. WikiLubber (talk) 19:55, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And we have another one: (172.56.26.135) I want it blocked indefinitely, and all pages it vandalized and my talk page should be protected indefinitely (or at least for a year). WikiLubber (talk) 01:16, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And we have yet one more: (95.172.74.62)
What I want to know is who is using these IPs, and why is it continuing to unfaithfully undo my good-faith edits without first consulting me? Plus, I want my dormant DawgDeputy page on Wikipedia protected indefinitely from these IPs. WikiLubber (talk) 14:12, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks much[edit]

Thanks for your help. -- Cirt (talk) 18:01, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

talk page[edit]

thanks for reverting. please delete the entry from the history log. What a loser that guy is. JEEZ! --Eaglestorm (talk) 15:34, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to have pages or a specific version of a page deleted you have to contact an administrator. -- Tegel (talk) 18:24, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with disruptive IPs...[edit]

Peter Pan[edit]

One user continuously adds nonsense and completely unnecessary (and completely inaccurate) extension to certain quotes. I request that that article be protected and this user be blocked indefinitely. WikiLubber (talk) 22:44, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Contact an administrator for actions against other users and protection of pages. -- Tegel (talk) 23:18, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas and Friends-related articles[edit]

Especially in The Adventure Begins, where the IPs continuously change Sir Topham Hatt's name to The Fat Director (which he was NEVER called in either the TV series nor the films). I request that these IPs be blocked indefinitely and that the pages be blocked for no less than the same period of time. I reported them months ago, but no matter how much I try, these IPs never stop. WikiLubber (talk) 22:44, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My talk page is being vandalized...[edit]

...by unrepentant IP vandals posting nonsense quotes without explanation. I tried reporting them and requesting indefinite protection of my talk page, but no action has been taken. Do you think you can help? WikiLubber (talk) 01:30, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm not an admin on this wiki, so I can't take any action unless it's an emergency. I see now that you got help in protecting your talk page. -- Tegel (talk) 08:56, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hotline[edit]

You're also a steward, right? Please revdelete this... Drmies (talk) 16:38, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

reverting other's edits on my talkpage[edit]

Hi Tegel,

I appreciate your efforts to remove unwanted postings on my user talkpage. However, I would like to ask you to leave me in control of my own space. In my experience reversions such as yours only lead to a flood of more, and this distracts me from my mission, which is to improve content on WQ. I hope you understand, Ottawahitech (talk) 15:00, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, no problem. If you want to interact with a WMF-banned user you are free to do so, but the user will be blocked anyway. -- Tegel (talk) 19:08, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Blocking is a matter for WQ admins, but what goes on my user talkpage is my business, I think? Ottawahitech (talk) 20:47, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Globally banned users IP-addresses is globally blocked and is handled by the Stewards. Keeping contributions from a WMF-banned user could be considered as helping a globally banned user evade their ban and may result in sanctions according to the WMF Global Ban Policy, but that is up to the WMF to decide. -- Tegel (talk) 01:29, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for providing a link to WMF Global Ban Policy . I finally had a chance to peak at the policy and to see that this is where one goes to find which users are globally banned by the WMF foundation itself.
I have not had enough time to read the whole X pages of this policy, but I found it interesting to see that the rate of banning has increased exponentially: from one banned user in 2002-2003 to, 10 in 2014-2015, 13 in 2016-2017... in 2021 there were almost as many users banned as in all other years combined.
I was surprised to see several user names whom I recognize, and since you say that:

Keeping contributions from a WMF-banned user could be considered as helping a globally banned user evade their ban and may result in sanctions

I guess I better stop adding content right now.
Since you are a steward (I think?), and since this communication may be interpreted as a formal notification, I guess I better drop all my content contributions to WMF projects until such time that I myself feel confident I am not breaking any sanctionable rules. I would certainly hate to be globally-blocked on such a technicality. Ottawahitech (talk) 16:48, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Since you are a Steward - am I in danger of being globally blocked?[edit]

I have verified by clicking through to your META userpage that you are a steward, and I need your advice in order to stay on the right side of wiki-law:

A long time ago I added code that was created by a user who appears on the list of Globally banned users (which you linked in your post above) to several of my WMF userpages without realizing this was a sanctionable offense. Do I have to stop all other contributions to any project until I can delete all mention of this banned user? Ottawahitech (talk) 17:05, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
