Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends (1984–1986, 1991-1992, 1994-1995, 1998, 2002-2021, otherwise referred to as Thomas & Friends, Thomas the Tank Engine or Thomas for short) is a British children's television series based on the series of the British children's books referred to as The Railway Series. The show was aimed at kindergarteners, and elementary school children, and from ages 4 to 8.
