- Hii, I'm Pellagia from Wikipedia usergroup in Tanzania, i started editing english and swahili articles since 2017, I wanted to ask if i can translate Women Wikiquote in Swahili as a project. Pellagia Njau (talk) 09:20, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Pellagia, this is normally a question best asked at the village pump or the Wikiquote talk:SheSaid page where more people are monitoring rather than your own talk page which usually nobody will see unless pinged. And I'm probably not the right person to ask really although I have persisted one article on a settlement in Tanzania on the English Wikipedia! Having said that I'll give a few points here: -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 10:16, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- As a "project" especially if collaborating with others I'd suggest contacting Anthere or Islahaddow first. If doing translations of individual pages then I'd suggest trying one or two to see how you are getting along. I really suggest unless you absolutely know 100% what you are doing to only select subjects that already have an article on the English Wikipedia otherwise there is a strong change it will be deleted for lack of notability. There are some obvious exceptions and national level government politicians come to mind but you need to provide citations in the lead section in that case and be prepared to defind it from WQ:PROD and WQ:VFD. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 10:16, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- We aware of the format suggested for translations. I'll try to place a link later. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 10:16, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- A personal plea. Wikimedia commons need images of settlements and railways and railway stations in Tanzania. How Railway stations in Tanzania & articles under Category:Rail infrastructure in Tanzania need more images. But above all keep yourself and others safe taking any images! -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 10:16, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- But be bold. Try it and see how it goes. Be prepared for difficulties and don't be discouraged but be prepared to learn. The only way I've ever learned to do anything right is by doing it wrong first. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 10:16, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- Best wishes and good luck. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 10:16, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
