Computer magic
[edit]The specific search in this instance are Wikiquote articles that are connected via Wikidata to English Wikipedia articles that are in Category:Grammy Award winners. So, exactly one article here in that category, and a 364 articles here that ought to be in it. But really, we just need something, anything here where we can run these kinds of petscan searches and semi-automated add them on Wikiquote. Petscan is a really powerful tool for finding them, but considered it would take thousands if not tens of thousands of edits to align only the preexiting categories between the two projects, it's really just not feasible to do manually. - GreenMeansGo This is doable and I am happy to help, but I will not have time or the focus until steward elections are over and off my mind. :) ~riley (talk)
- No worries. Happy to have someone interested. I've been asking online and in person for about a year now. GMGtalk 23:19, 9 February 2020 (UTC)
Moving categories question
[edit]Hi ~riley,
I noticed you Moved Category:Canadians by occupation to Category:People from Canada by occupation and was wondering why Canadians were moved, but not Australians by occupation? Am I making sense? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 17:45, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Ottawahitech: Still a work in progress. ~riley (talk) 17:53, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Ottawahitech: Australia now down, will work on the others later. ~riley (talk) 18:51, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- I never got the last ping, probably because you did not sign your post. Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 18:50, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for catching that, I normally respond with an auto-signing script. Don't have it enabled on this wiki. ~riley (talk) 18:51, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

I wonder if Category:Historians by country should be moved to Category:Historians by nationality to conform with categories for other social scientists (and with wikipedia practice)? Ottawahitech (talk) 18:41, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
You are now an administrator.

Hello
[edit]Hello Riley, on User talk:2001:8003:4085:8100:989E:A97D:F2C6:A1A7, you said that you would weigh in on the four wikiquote page that there have been edit disagreements on (World Health Organization, Naxalite, Colonialism, and Coronavirus disease 2019). I don't see any changes on the above talkpages. Could you let me know your thoughts on these? --2001:8003:4085:8100:C0C8:7ADD:E6B:5469 06:48, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hello again Riley, have you taken a look at these disagreements on the above pages as mentioned in their talk pages? I look forward to your reply. --2001:8003:59DB:4100:348E:D0C4:E759:8AD0 09:47, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- Please see my user page. ~riley (talk) 09:49, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- I completely missed that. Take care and thank you for letting me know. I look forward to your responses when all this has settled down. --2001:8003:59DB:4100:348E:D0C4:E759:8AD0 09:50, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Riley, have you weighed in on these wikiquote pages? --120.158.152.91 03:02, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- There has also been more edit warring with rupert as can be seen here (and potential sockpuppet of ruperts). --120.158.152.91 03:04, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @120.158.152.91: I think it would be better to try and resolve the dispute on the VP rather than calling wolf to an administrator. dibbydib⌐■_■ (barate me) 03:18, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @~riley: "Socialism has killed over 100 million peopleSocialism has killed over 100 million people" the user is again with the POV pushing and edit warring. Last time they broke the 3 revert rule and nobody did nothing. Rupert Loup 03:22, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- This is the warring of today:
- quote my entire edit summary rupert: "the quote does not need any further comment. Socialism has killed over 100 million people, should we add The Black Book of Communism as an addendum to all marx, engels and lenin quotes?" You are adding addendum's to quotes. --120.158.152.91 03:26, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

- As can be seen here, here, here, here, here, and here, rupert has been pov pushing and has broken the 3 revert rule. --120.158.152.91 03:29, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- As can be seen on the edit summaries for genocide, socialism, 19th century, and Europe, I have added a quote that is pertinent to the topic and have explained why I have done so, and rupert has offered poor excuses for removing them and has been edit warring.
- I have asked rupert to take it to the talk page (as can be seen in the edit summaries) and he has refused.

- Oh yeah that are the pages in which you used your sockpupet TVEBOR, that you created specifically to harass Peter1, that made the same warring edits as you, in the same pages, and with the same edits summaries. Also you were the first in break the 3RR. @~riley: I already reported about their sock popetry and the warring and no admin responded in the noticeboard. Rupert Loup 04:17, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- Block has been placed on 2001:8003:4000:0:0:0:0:0/35 for edit warring, unfounded accusations and POV pushing. Overall w:WP:NOTHERE behaviour that has become disruptive. Evading this block will result in an extended block and a CheckUser investigation. @Rupert Loup: Please do not undo edits without providing an edit summary and when the 3RR is broken, just stop there. I am sorry the other admins have not been responsive but blowing up the page history with reverts does not help. ~riley (talk) 22:11, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
Assistance requested
[edit]It concerns one Pratap Pandit (talk • contribs • global edits • page moves • block user • block log)
- It constantly harasses users such as Rupert loup, დამოკიდებულება, and myself, and refuses to admit defeat.
- Plus, it has a history of sockpuppetry on Wikipedia. We cannot take any chances that it may take its frustration out on Wikiquote.
- And in this edit, it claims დამოკიდებულება has a "weird name", and it demanded დამოკიდებულება add an English name in his signature, just because it claimed it would be "easier to communicate". I request action be taken against this user immediately. I notified other admins, just in case. DawgDeputy (talk) 02:06, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- I am responding here as I was pinged from this page by DawgDeputy. You might want to see this report at Wikiquote:Administrators' noticeboard#Harassment and Edit warring by User:DawgDeputy.
- DawgDeputy has created same blockshopping threads on 7 different Administrator's talk page, [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] even though a report is already posted on WQ:AN.
- Weird name has already been explained in detail--Pratap Pandit (talk) 02:32, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
Rupert loup again
[edit]Hi Riley, You might want to take a look at this user. He was already blocked by you and warned recently. GMG had intervened but this user has reverted him and restored copyright violations. This user reported here continues with his mindless edit warring removing sourced content and adding copyright violations. 3 reverts today. Please help. --Pratap Pandit (talk) 14:36, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
