- also https://en.wikiquote.org/w/index.php?title=Template_talk:QOTD_Ranking&oldid=2847926. I suggest you look at my edits in Template and Template talk namespace:) I've tried to fix most of the templates that had LintErrors. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 20:12, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

- Done x2. If you are finding that you need to make edits to protected pages on other wikis as well, maybe request global interface editor? DannyS712 (talk) 22:33, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
- I don't have enough credibility to request it at present, and there are some technical things I really really shouldn't have God like powers to break. But thanks for the vote of confidence. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 23:01, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

Amazing how many apples fall when you shake the tree. Template:Vfd_bottom/sandboxShakespeareFan00 (talk) 08:23, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
- Also Template:Discussion-closed-bottom/sandbox , Let's keep shaking the tree! :) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 12:40, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
No one's told me I'm doing anything wrong yet...
Not a good sign...
I'd appreciate someone doing a check on my edits in Wikiquote namespace, especially the repairs to signatures, and so on. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:07, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll take a look when I have some time (I've been checking the edits I've made for you though) and may also set up AWB to make some of the changes myself DannyS712 (talk) 20:19, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
Lint - QOTD
And fixed a QOTD, using {{pbri}} for speed.

Lint - Edit request for protected page...
I attempted another lint repair here- Wikiquote:Recentchanges/sandbox ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 13:38, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
Request for edits to protected templates..
Wikiquote:Quote of the day/2003
Final list should be wrapped by
<div style="font-size:smaller;">
...
</div>
instead of small tags. (this is the approach I've also used for the same situation elsewhere.) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 14:43, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
The massive edit needed (which is why I asked about AWB)
Category: Category:VfD archive entries
Search string:
No further edits should be made to this page. </div> <!--Template:Vfd bottom-->
Replacement:
No further edits should be made to this page.'' </div> <!--Template:Vfd bottom-->
Note I've used Syntaxhighlight here so I don't generate more errors in giving the pattern to look for. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 16:50, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
- Okay. Do you want me to make these edits, or do you want to request AWB yourself? DannyS712 (talk) 16:59, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
- If you already have admin bit, it would be more sensible for you to do them in batches with a detailed edit summary. Thanks.ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:33, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
- Of course the pattern given may need to be refined based on experience, so I would just do 20 or so edits as a 'test' to start with.. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:34, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
- Technically it's only those that appear in the category AND listed ad https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Special:LintErrors/missing-end-tag?namespace=4 that need looking into, but I wasn't sure how easy it was to write a Quarry query to do the intersection of the Category concerned and the LintError sub-report.ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:39, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll do it at some point (probably this weekend) DannyS712 (talk) 20:36, 16 September 2020 (UTC)

Wikiquote:Quote of the day/February 14
This has a missing closing italic.. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:00, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
Lint...
Slowly ever slowly..
I've been very carefully doing some bold and italic tag matching on Talk pages and there are many pages I skipped over, because I couldn't be sure. If you want me to stop, or confine the Linter removal edits to certain namespaces, Please say so after consultation with your fellow administrators.
I think I am starting to reach the limits of what I fell comfortable attempting to repair on some pages. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 20:05, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

I removed an obselete tag.
I'd appreciate someone taking on the remaining Misnested and stripped tags. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 16:44, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
Shaking the tree harder.... we are into fall...
I changed this to eliminate the deprecated CENTER tag Template:QoD/sandbox , needs review. I've used the center block approach from English Wikisource. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:04, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hmm, the current display isn't actually centered. Maybe just remove the center tags to avoid altering the output? DannyS712 (talk) 17:08, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Whatever works.. For me the centering was design choice, but if you think otherwise, I'll leave it to your discretion...
Also : - Template:People by name/sandbox..ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:19, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
BTW Clearing up the remaining misnested FONT and CENTER tags will allow for a BOT to potentially convert them to more modern syntax at a later date, (Wikiversity had a maintaince script that did/does this automatically.)ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:19, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Removed the center tags from QoD, copied your edit for People by name DannyS712 (talk) 17:37, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:58, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Removing center is relatively painless, other templates can be updated per the approach I've already used.ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:58, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Template:QoDBar2017/sandbox Pattern should be near identical for the remainind QoDbarXXXX style templates BTW ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:49, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Will do when I have a chance DannyS712 (talk) 18:50, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

my edits
- I have already stated in the edit summaries why I was removing or adding content. Rupert loup is undoing my edits, and claiming I am guilty of "block evasion". Rupert has a history of poor behaviour on this wiki, he was recently banned for a week. --2001:8003:59DB:4100:5D6:EBDA:4936:13EA 02:15, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- I don't see a single edit summary explaining your removals or additions of content, just `rv` without context DannyS712 (talk) 02:16, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- not those edits, but the ones made that rupert reverted, that say things like "Trotskyist Fraction – Fourth International is hardly a notable source or a reliable source or a neutral source" and "red flag is not a good source". These are my edits that rupert reverted, and rupert wrote in the edit summary "block evasion". No idea what that is about. --2001:8003:59DB:4100:5D6:EBDA:4936:13EA 02:20, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Plus a few of the edits I reverted of ruperts were of rupert removing content that I had added. --2001:8003:59DB:4100:5D6:EBDA:4936:13EA 02:26, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

global watchlist
Hi DannyS712/Archive 1 I see on your userpage that you created a
global watchlist, and am in the process of converting it to a proper extension
Where can I see documentation explaining how to use this global watchlist, and what is the advantage of "converting it to a proper extension"? Just curious. Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 03:26, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Ottawahitech there isn't much documentation at the moment. For the script, add
mw.loader.load('//meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:DannyS712/Global watchlist.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');
to your global.js subpage, and then visit Special:BlankPage/GlobalWatchlist. It has a link to change your settings. For the extension, documentation will be at mw:Extension:GlobalWatchlist or a specific help page, once its available. You can also check out phab:T260862. --DannyS712 (talk) 03:47, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

This user is a control freak and has been reverting people's edits simply because he doesn't like their edits. Can you block him?--Countryboy603 (talk) 04:41, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- I suggest asking at Wikiquote:Administrators' noticeboard instead - I don't have the time to investigate this at the moment, sorry --DannyS712 (talk) 05:33, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Correct me if I am wrong, but calling one a "control freak" is attacking/belittling. And I did not say I disliked that user's edit. I undid that user's edit because the article has enough necessary quotes already. The one that user added was completely unnecessary, full of mistakes, and nevertheless irrelevant. DannyS712, do not bother investigating. DawgDeputy (talk) 22:13, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
