IP address ban and Mass deletion of articles

[edit]

We hosted an event on the 25 June 2022 for for Art & feminism and we experienced an issue where there was a clash of IP address being the same and also having about 5 user accounts identified as sockpuppet for Leungo Mokgwathi who's work has been placed under mass deletion. So the following usernames were affected and all their articles are nominated for speedy deletion: Memory Macheza, Wathuto, Kutlomasa, Tntsholetsang, Ikobeng. So currently Leungo Mokgwathi cannot create any article too as all her work is placed under mass deletion. Articles from the following accounts are still marked for speedy deletion:Wathuto, Kutlomasa, Tntsholetsang, Ikobeng

@Kolobetsoo: Sorry! This was a mistake on my part for flagging the accounts, they seemed to be socks at the time, now I realize my mistake and am very sorry. – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet) (talk / e-mail) 10:59, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Can it be undone? because their work is marked for deletion Kolobetsoo (talk) 11:18, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Kolobetsoo: Just un-mark it. – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet) (talk / e-mail) 11:28, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

And now

[edit]

Hi, thank you for your congratulations. As said, I'll do my best .... and as noted before, I'm very interested in empowering other editors who are willingly serve good causes. I wonder if you are also interested in serving this project as admin. In my eyes, you are a frequent participant, speaking modestly, and have known which edit be kept and not. Would you mind me recommending you for adminship on this project? --Aphaia (talk) 06:12, 6 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Aphaia, thank you for asking me about it. It's something I may consider in the future, but not right now. I'd like to get a bit more experience with articles and other things here. I'm not sure how much experience Wikiquotians like to see for an administrator, but maybe I'll volunteer in a few months. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 08:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

a request

[edit]

Please see: User talk:Tegel#reverting other's edits on my talkpage. Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 20:49, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Ottawahitech: Understood. I will note again though that the editor is WMF-banned, therefore people may still revert the edits made from him on your talk page. All his edits are eligible for reversion because he is evading a WMF ban. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 20:56, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

not sure if you were pinged

[edit]

Hi Ferien

I used the new Reply to post a followup to you on AN (Page protection). Did you get pinged? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 01:08, 9 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

No, there wasn't a ping there, you have to use the button next to link on the reply feature or use one of the pinging templates. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 09:03, 9 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Successful RfA

[edit]

I have closed your application for adminship as successful. Welcome to the corps. Should you need any assistance or advice, I'm sure myself or any of the other administrators will be happy to help in any way we can. Thank you for volunteering. GMGtalk 18:19, 1 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Rollback question

[edit]

Hi Ferien,

I see that you are using rollback and wonder if it is a tool that is also available for regular users? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 01:52, 12 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Ottawahitech. Unfortunately right now, rollback here is only available to admins, global rollbackers and Stewards, although I believe that there was some discussion recently about having rollback as a right for people who aren't admins – I will see if I can find that discussion later. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 09:13, 12 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Table of Contents for categories

[edit]

Hi Ferien,

Good work on Category:Births by year!

This cat now contains over 400 entries which means a TOC will come in handy. Problem is: WQ does not have the template required for a numerical category table of contents, which I think exists on enwiki (w: Template:Large category TOC numeric).

Any idea how we can import this template into WQ? Ottawahitech (talk) 15:25, 13 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Ottawahitech, I've copied over the two templates from enwiki (with attribution in the edit summary). There are still quite a few cats to go for birth by year, I'll see if I can do those now. :) --Ferien (talk) 15:30, 13 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Aside

[edit]

I came here to write about something, but just paused in astonishment at the Icelandic landscape. Never been there, but I'd love the peace and silence, and would happily trade my California sunshine this afternoon for that austere and beautiful view. Thank you for your help here. I think you're doing an excellent job adminning. (I want to start adding some quotes in my areas of expertise, but kind of need someone to watch my back, because you-know-who stalks everything I do on wikis where I am not an admin.) Anyway - thanks again. WQ is a better place now that it has your assistance. All the best - Antandrus (talk) 21:59, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, I'm happy to help, Antandrus. :) With the Icelandic landscape: I've tried to find nice pictures for the top of my talk pages on wikis I remember to, this one was really nice. I've never actually been to Iceland I'd love to go one day, it's such a beautiful country. I probably won't be around as much for the next week or so but if I notice anything bad I'll probably still be able to help... And if you haven't noticed, there's now an abuse filter for him based on the simplewiki one and it has been very effective – can't say much more as the abuse filter's private but it's good. --Ferien (talk) 22:15, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Antandrus, Yes, the views of Iceland (or is it Greenland?) are awesome from a windowseat on a transatlantic ride. But are you REALLY ready to "trade California sunshine" with snow? Ottawahitech (talk) 15:56, 7 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Antandrus: Did you know there are arctic foxes in Iceland that survive by swimming across rivers and eating seabirds? Over at Talk:Jeffrey Epstein we were discussing paywalls and it occurred to me that Netflix is a sort of paywall that unfortunately I cannot penetrate with a wiki link pointing to the episode of those foxes in Iceland. Too bad. Ottawahitech (talk) 13:32, 12 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Ferien, I think both you and @Antandrus are connoisseurs of natural beauty and snowy peaks? If so you may enjoy watching https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/ondemand/video/3025011/ from Karasawa Cirque, Japan.
I watched this program live with an gaping mouth, and have been waiting for days for the video to show up on the web, which it finally did this morning.
Enjoy, I hope? Ottawahitech (talk) 17:20, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ottawahitech, wow, that looks stunning. Thank you for sharing, --Ferien (talk) 16:59, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Actually, when I watched the web version of this TV program it just did not look like the one I saw originally. The TV program was stunning. From my experience NHK tends to have a lot of reruns, so as long as you have access to this channel you may be able to see it on HD TV (I think?) Why did you delete Talk: Northern Light?

[edit]

Hi Ferien,

I see you have recently deleted Talk: Northern Light with this rationale: Talk page of deleted or nonexistent page

I am not sure if it is appropriate for me to ask here(?): Why are talk-pages routinely deleted with this rationale? I think the admin who initially deleted the article page associated with this talk-page did what they did intentionally(?). Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 15:41, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Ottawahitech, when a page is deleted, the talk page should be deleted because once a page is deleted, there isn't anything more to discuss. If someone thinks a page should be restored, then a discussion should be started on AN or deletion review (although that page doesn't appear to be very active). Most of the time when a talkpage isn't deleted, the most likely scenario is an admin just forgot. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 15:44, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Do you think I am doing too much, too fast here?

[edit]

Hi Ferien, I have been stuck at home in quarantine for a week, (not sick enough to abandon the internet tho.) The combination of time on my hands, and what I see as a readymade project (the sock articles) resulted in my doing a lot of edits.

I worry about being seen as trying to re-write Wikiquote. Antandrus has looked at some of my edits and given thumbs up. I imagine you are busy, but if you could just take a random look at a couple of edits from Special:Contributions/HouseOfChange, I would appreciate feedback, if you have time. HouseOfChange (talk) 00:52, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

HouseOfChange, I don't think you're looking like you're trying to rewrite Wikiquote. While I don't have much time to look at many of your edits right now, the ones I've seen appear to be fixing the POV that Libraryclerk0191 and sockpuppets added to pages, which is no problem at all. I also started actively editing during the third lockdown here in the UK as I had a lot of time on my hands. I hope you get better soon. :) -- Ferien (talk) 18:14, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@HouseOfChange, Are you interested my my feedback? If you are read on, otherwise please ignore.
Some of the articles I have started have been the target your so-called-cleanup work, and from my POV it seems like you are cleaning up my work because you feel that I am pushing a non-neutral-POV. I find the language you are using is inflammatory and meant to devalue my contributions to the English Wikquote.
Since I am blocked on 3 other wiki-land projects, this I causing me personally a problem, because if I get blocked on another wiki-land project I will automatically be globally locked, something I dread after making volunteer contributions sincee 2007.
Please do not construe this as my attempt to discuss my problems, but as feedabck for your own contributions. Ottawahitech (talk) 17:33, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@@Ottawahitech This discussion doesn't belong on Ferien's talk page, and since every time we post here we notify poor Ferien, I suggest you post future feedback on my Talk page or at Admin Noticeboard if you feel others ought to hear them. If I were trying to get you kicked off WQ, which I am not, I would bring my concerns first to you and then to ANI. HouseOfChange (talk) 21:31, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

What’s wrong with adding extra date information? – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 19:18, 7 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ilovemydoodle, it was mainly the switching of the dates that was the problem. The edit made to add extra date information was made by a WMF-banned editor. You are welcome to readd the comment, but I'd rather you didn't revert it directly with undo, as that'd look like you were trying to help a WMF-banned editor evade their ban. --Ferien (talk) 19:20, 7 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok, re-adding. – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 19:23, 7 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

I was trying to communicate with User:PAVLOV to discuss their posting at User talk:Praxidicae#Risto hot sir but it appears their user-talk is protected? Ottawahitech (talk) 15:54, 14 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, what could I do for you? PAVLOV (talk) 16:14, 14 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've requested unprotecting of that user talk page. User talk pages should rarely be protected for administrators only. --Ferien (talk) 16:15, 14 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

GRP block

[edit]

Why don’t you block GRP indefinitely? – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 06:06, 20 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

IPs are rarely blocked indefinitely because they are often used by multiple different people. --Ferien (talk) 06:07, 20 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oh, didn't think of that. – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 06:10, 20 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Redacting

[edit]

@Ferien I am redacting all of my edits. – Ilovemydoodle (talk | e-mail) {DELETION IN PROGRESS} 07:39, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Is there any reason why? There's rarely any need to redact edits. --Ferien (talk) 07:40, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am trying to get my account *effectively* deleted. – Ilovemydoodle (talk | e-mail) {DELETION IN PROGRESS} 07:42, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
You could vanish your account if you wish to leave Wikiquote forever. However, there is no need for all your comments on talk pages to be deleted. --Ferien (talk) 07:43, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I would like to do that before vanishing. – Ilovemydoodle (talk | e-mail) {DELETION IN PROGRESS} 07:47, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
See the vanishing page
"Work on the project - Your work, including "signatures" (text indicating your authorship of comments) on all but your own user and talk pages, will usually not be changed or removed. To change these would be a major source of disruption. Individual revisions of individual pages that contain personally identifying information may be oversighted instead." --Ferien (talk) 07:51, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Well, what I would like to do is manually redact them and then have them oversighted. – Ilovemydoodle (talk | e-mail) {DELETION IN PROGRESS} 08:04, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
That probably won't happen, as a steward would have to give oversight to themselves to oversight all of the revisions and I have never seen that happen before. --Ferien (talk) 08:06, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Can an admin deleterevision them instead? – Ilovemydoodle (talk | e-mail) {DELETION IN PROGRESS} 08:11, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ilovemydoodle, there would have to be good reason to do so. As I said, vanished users' revisions are rarely deleted. They can be deleted on your own talk page, though. --Ferien (talk) 09:16, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I don’t want them deleted, just hidden. – Ilovemydoodle (talk | e-mail) {DELETION IN PROGRESS} 09:18, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, rarely revdelled (revisions hidden from public view) is what I meant --Ferien (talk) 09:19, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
And Ilovemydoodle, is there any reason why you are also deleting the comments that are with the edits? You are removing other people's comments with little to no explanation and it is making a bit of a mess on village pump and other places. --Ferien (talk) 09:25, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am trying to remove all information of me, generally I try to keep my comments and just remove my signature, but sometimes I have to remove them. I occasionally remove others comments if they give stuff away about me. – Ilovemydoodle (talk | e-mail) {DELETION IN PROGRESS} 09:30, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ilovemydoodle, a lot of the comments you removed didn't give stuff away about you. I'll also point out that by redacting everything you are bringing more attention to yourself. --Ferien (talk) 10:41, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am trying to hide information from GRP. – Ilovemydoodle (talk | e-mail) {DELETION IN PROGRESS} 10:43, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
This entire episode feels like trolling. If the behavior complained of continues as such, I am going to treat it as such. BD2412 T 07:32, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ilovemydoodle, unblock requests should be handled by admins. When an unblock request is made, admin attention is being requested and therefore, I don't think non-admins should respond to unblock requests. I just reverted the request because it is clearly trolling.--Ferien (talk) 21:30, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ilovemydoodle, I didn't really put too much thought into it but I like it! I can speak some German (still learning though) and "Ferien" means holiday/vacation in German. It's one of the nicer words I encountered and as I wanted to give my Wikimedia username some meaning, I made Ferien my username. --Ferien (talk) 20:31, 18 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

An idea for you

[edit]

Rather than deleting a page or template after a vfd, if there was (some) value still left in it, it could be moved to the 'deletion dump' where users could view it. They could use parts of the article or template in other pages that are working on, or they could create a fork of it and try to improve to the point where it could be re-created. What do you think? – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet) (talk / e-mail) 17:51, 21 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ilovemydoodle, sorry I forgot to respond to your message. I don't really see an issue in that. --Ferien (talk) 12:20, 7 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Template:Tl

[edit]

What was wrong with my change? (it certainly makes more sense than matching an outdated wikidata version) And how did I not give attribution? – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet) (talk / e-mail) 14:21, 31 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Ilovemydoodle: Not sure exactly how {{tl}} can be outdated, its function is very basic. You didn't give attribution because you did not say the page it was copied from on English Wikipedia. You said "changed to match Wikipedia" but that is not clear enough. It's usually best to give a diff of the version you are copying but you did not even give the page name, which is different from enwikiquote so yes, it needs specifying. --Ferien (talk) 14:28, 31 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
It works incorrectly here, may I re-copy it while giving proper attribution? – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet) (talk / e-mail) 14:29, 31 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
If you want to, but it appears to be working fine. Ferien (talk) 14:30, 31 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
It does work, just not as it should. – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet) (talk / e-mail) 14:31, 31 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

User:Will-SeymoreIII blocked as a sock

[edit]

Hi Ferien,

I have a couple of questions regarding your block of User:Will-SeymoreIII

I realize this block happened in pre-history and don't mind waiting for you to answer. Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 21:26, 10 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ottawahitech,
  • No, I wasn't aware of that discussion.
  • Not all socks need to be tagged, and I didn't see a need to tag at the time.
  • Vermont realised there was sockpuppetry here and you might remember we had a discussion about it at the time here.
Feel free to ask me if you have any more questions though. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 22:27, 10 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Moving from Category:Women from Nigeria to Category:Nigerian actresses

[edit]

Hi Ferien,

Hi, at the end of 2021you moved all the contents of Category:Women from Nigeria to Category:Nigerian actresses. Can you please explain the rationale for that AWB move? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 15:36, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ottawahitech, I actually reverted my category changes on the contents as I realised I made a mistake as you can see here. I also made the edit with Cat-a-lot, not AWB. Thanks. --Ferien (talk) 17:12, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ferien, I asked this question before because I wanted to make sure my own page is never deleted as it was on META (years ago). I believe you answered this question, and I believe your answer was that user pages at ENWQ are only deleted on user request?

I recently came across user who is an admin on another wmf-project who had a page on ENWQ, but that page has disappeared and this user's META page is now showing instead. How can this happen without having the ENWQ page deleted?

Also, it appears that ADMIN Saroj Uprety does not agree with you. This is in regard to a different user who was blocked here IIRC. Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 21:09, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ottawahitech, please could you mention the name of the user whose userpage was deleted so I could look at it and explain what happened. Just say their username or their userpage, but don't link to their user page as it'll ping them unnecessarily.
As for your final point, userpages can also be deleted for spam and may sometimes also be deleted if they are pure vandalism, however the latter is much rarer to see. We get quite a bit of spam on userpages, not just here on Wikiquote but on other projects too, and they are obvious candidates for speedy deletion. I do agree with Saroj Uprety's deletion of the userpage you are talking about. This does not mean there is any chance of your userpage being deleted without your consent – it is neither vandalism nor spam. Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions. --Ferien (talk) 21:28, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi again, I appreciate you saying that my own user page is not in danger of being deleted at ENWQ, but I think you can understand my concern. Individual admins using their own discretion in this regard is worrisome for not only me, I think? I don't believe my page at META had spam or vandalism on it, yet it was deleted with no notification. I only discovered this much later IIRC when I started getting extremely hostile postings from users I did not know. I can only assume that these users thought I was a spammer or vandal.
Just wondering why it is necessary in the first place to delete user pages of blocked users? Isn't it sufficient to merely undo ny offending text and let the community decide for itself if a user is a spammer or a vandal?
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions so diligently. No hurry, take your time, I know you are busy. Ottawahitech (talk) 23:14, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ottawahitech, from what I can see, your userpage on Meta was deleted because it was not created by you. I don't know whether you made any edits after that creation or not, and so can't comment much further, but the admins on that project may be willing to restore your userpage as you were ok with how it was.
On this project, I know that admins will only delete userpages in cases of clear spam or vandalism. In these cases of spam and vandalism, it is clear-cut as to whether the userpage should be deleted or not. Spam revisions can still be linked to in the page history and, when userpages are deleted for vandalism, it is mostly content that's clearly offensive and would be eligible for revision deletion if it was added to a page. Therefore it is usually not sufficient to simply remove the offending text in these cases. Note that userpages are not automatically eligible for deletion when a user is blocked on this wiki.
The reason admins go through an RfA is to show the community supports them, to ensure they have good judgement in deleting pages and knowledge in policy, to be able to explain why they acted the way they did, so consultation with the whole community for individual cases isn't just a bad use of editors' time, but also gives more attention to the spam or vandalism, which is what deletion aims to avoid. New sockpuppet already

[edit]

(not that this is any surprise) - U.C.Besserman. If you're able to help that would be wonderful. I'm starting to feel a bit of disillusionment myself. People like this just do not stop, and we do not seem to have enough of an admin corps here who cares about our core mission - an NPOV collection of quotes, not a rubbish bin of propaganda. Not sure what the answer is. Antandrus (talk) 00:08, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Blocked, thanks for letting me know :) --Ferien (talk) 03:40, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi again, Ferien. I had tried to step away, but - this guy simply does not give up. And he won't. He will be here every day until there is a robust response.

Current:

Can you help? At this point I'm not sure what to do, because no one else seems to care. Having sockpuppet armies pushing propaganda compromises the integrity of the project. We have to shut the door on these people, or page after page will just become coatracks for what one individual believes to be "truth". Thank you - Antandrus (talk) 01:39, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for letting me know, I'm afraid I can't take a good look at this at the moment as I'm unable to use my laptop. But I've blocked the account and IP. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 10:03, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi again - needless to say, he is still editing, this time as 70.57.89.201.
I'm not an admin here (obviously) but if I were I'd block 70.57.64.0.0/19 - the last edit by anyone else was in 2010, and also 184.4.80.0/21, where there are zero edits by anyone else. But rangeblocks might not be WQ's style; not sure. Thanks - Antandrus (talk) 21:51, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Y Done both. I'd be happy to support you if you did decide to become admin. I'm not able to spend too much time looking into bigger issues such as this at the moment, but it seems you are helping with this one quite a bit. --Ferien (talk) 21:56, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi again - sorry to bother you - can you please do another one - 184.4.81.161 - have a look at the edit summaries - this person is not going to stop. Blocking this range ought to do it for now. Thank you - appreciate the help. Antandrus (talk) 04:16, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Y Done the range. Saroj Uprety got to the IP before I did :) --Ferien (talk) 07:45, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Just hi

[edit]

Nice to see you at wq again Ottawahitech (talk) 19:18, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ottawahitech, hello! I haven't been around as much lately, I've been busy with exams and things. I should be more active over the next few weeks :) --Ferien (talk) 19:19, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it is hard to juggle RL with volunteer activities. I am glad you are still keeping in touch. Ottawahitech (talk) 19:29, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Have you given up on enwq? I hope not. Ottawahitech (talk) 16:12, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ottawahitech, hi again. I was more active from then for a little while, but since then, I've had an increased workload overall, that's meant my activity on Wikimedia overall has reduced a lot over the last couple of months. I do intend to stay active here, once I've got on top of things! :) --Ferien (talk) 19:49, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Resignation

[edit]

For those who are watching this page and may have seen m:Special:Diff/26361107. I have been busy with school and work overall since September and not had much time to contribute here in general. Recently, this has only got worse, and I have been inactive for a while, so I thought it'd only be fair to resign as an admin from this project rather than keep sysop tools I'm not using. I think I have contributed quite a bit in the past 2 years I have been an admin here and I've enjoyed being part of the community here. Hopefully one day I will be able to return and edit more again :) Ferien (talk) 23:00, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ferien, thank you for your service to this project in the past. I hope very much you have time to return in the future! HouseOfChange (talk) 02:07, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

WQ page rank?

[edit]

Hi Ferien, I thought to pose some of the most venerable users here an important question I just can't seem to figure out: why do you think, WQ has such an horrendous page rank on most search engines? Why wouldn't e.g. a very expansive WQ article on a relatively niche intellectual always top a short and potentially skewed WP article? Indeed, I think, especially for controversial leaders from historical scientific, religious and or political movements, having a representative WQ entry is much more insightful than the overly curated alternative. What might be the exact reason for this very noticeable skew? Do you also believe that, maybe, the aforementioned inclusion of certain figures' exact quotes, from politically incorrect up to and including borderline defamatory, has - rightly or not - lead to the actual WMF, well, somehow hardcoding this inferior status into the platform regardless of quality? Any clarification would be extremely helpful! Biohistorian15 (talk) 15:15, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
