[edit]Thank you for the addition of this page - for certainly a noteworthy person. But the listed quotes are not sourced. Without sources, it is likely that this page will be tagged for deletion soon. If you have sources, please add them. Thanks. ~ UDScott (talk) 15:03, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

- Out of curiosity: why direct this new user to an essay and a guideline. ewe't there any policies here? Ottawahitech (talk) 10:51, 19 November 2024 (UTC)

Elena Ospina
[edit]A page that you have been involved in editing, Elena Ospina, has been listed for deletion. All contributions are appreciated, but it may not satisfy Wikiquote's criteria for inclusion, for the reasons given in the nomination for deletion (see also what Wikiquote is and is not). If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikiquote:Votes for deletion/Elena Ospina. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Thank you. User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 06:07, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thankyou for contributing to wq:Votes for deletion/Elena Ospina. You're normally meant to add things to the bottom of the page so I've moved it there, and I've also reformatted you're entry as a keep vote. Please remember to sign your discussion contribution with four tildes: ~~~~. Thankyou. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 01:06, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for this A23423413 (talk) 16:00, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, @Djm-leighpark has not only been very conscientious about notifying others when he nominates articles for deletions, but I believe his actions have rubbed off on many other community members who frequently use the various deletion avenues at enwq. He is also more careful to go to a full VFD instead of trying to sneak in an almost silent PROD. Ottawahitech (talk) 16:53, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Ottawahitech: That's not my reasoning of how I make the choice whether to WQ:PROD, WQ:VFD, or WQ:Speedy deletions. PROD is in some ways preferable to VfD as it leads to a soft delete and is not "sneaky" as you claim, albeit WQ:PROD could possibly do with improvement. Yes I try my best to notify (non-enWQ blocked} logged in users who have made major contributions. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 23:22, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- I'm pleased to note this has finally been closed at VfD and the result was a non-consensus close, which pragmatically is good enough. It will not now be deleted, but it could be re-nominated (but I very much doubt it should be). If it is I'd suggest pointing at the references I placed in that discussion. From (my faulty) memory I remember searching Proquest via the Wikipedia Library and I would caution if you do that there may be other "Elena Ospina"'s that can be found references for that are not the same person -- (formerly Djm-leighpark) DeirgeDel tac 15:58, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Question on sourcing
[edit]Thank you for all your recent additions. I have a question about the many quotes you have added to pages in the About section. Most have a source identified as Interview in Conversations with X (for example, 1994 interview in Conversations with Octavia Butler or 2002 interview in Conversations with Ursula Le Guin). But I'm not quite sure what this source is - is it a book? Is it a film? Are they the same source for both? Do you have a more specific reference? Thanks. ~ UDScott (talk) 18:56, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hey, yeah I've been finding them in these books https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6543681-conversations-with-octavia-butler and https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/3920364-conversations-with-ursula-k-le-guin that have around 10 different interviews in them. Should I add the book's publication date in parentheses as well as the interview year? ~ A23423413 (talk) 18:49, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, makes sense now - yes, I would add as much information as you have (maybe even including these links), as it makes it easier for people to verify the quotes. Thanks ~ UDScott (talk) 19:04, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- That makes sense, will do. Thank you for this ~ A23423413 (talk) 19:08, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi again - just wanted to give a friendly nudge and remind you of this conversation. I saw you have continued to add similar citations for quotes you are adding on many pages. These are great additions, but again, it's hard to verify the quotes based solely on things like this: [1], which do not include information about the source book or a link to it. Can you consider adding more information to these citations, as you and I discussed above? Thanks again. ~ UDScott (talk) 19:20, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hey, I started adding the books publication years in parentheses after you messaged me. I saw someone else citing a book in the same series and they added the editors name(s), I can start doing that too ~ A23423413 (talk) 15:27, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

May 2023
[edit]Don’t forget to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette (and vice versa). The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thanks! -- DeirgeDel tac 20:58, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for this feedback. I had been using minor when I only added one or two quotes to a page, I'll stop doing that ~ A23423413 (talk) 15:04, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
I'm really impressed by the many articles you do do for Wikiquote. Any I'm really happy to sitelink them. And then today there is Lois Griffith. Do you have your best 3 reliable sources (Read W:en:WP:THREE?) so support notability ? -- DeirgeDel tac 20:58, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Please note I've resolved the notability issue on Lois Griffith. It can be quote time consuming when there's no associated English Wikipedia article and can take me hours and stuff. Anyway keep up the good work! -- DeirgeDel tac 15:52, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you ~ A23423413 (talk) 17:43, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
Reagan quote
[edit]I'm satisfied with your last response. You may just re-add the quote without an explanation in talk, and I won't disturb it further. Zgystardst (talk) 18:38, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
Ricardo Caté
[edit]I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Ricardo Caté, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but it may not satisfy Wikiquote's criteria for inclusion, for the reasons given in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikiquote is not" and Wikiquote's deletion policy).
You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Votes for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Lemonaka (talk) 18:05, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Lemonaka: I am shocked to see that you have access to users' IP addresses on this wiki. It was my understanding that w:wp:checkuser privileges were not conferred on local admins. Am I incorrect? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 01:58, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Ottawahitech What? Are you sure? How can I have access to user's IP on this wiki? Lemonaka (talk) 04:45, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
- Did you not write the original message of this thread yourself? This is what I see:
- An editor using this IP address posted Ricardo Caté, so I put a message to hope noticing the editor the following. If you are not the editor, sorry to bother and please ignore it.
- It is right at the top of this thread. Is there something I misunderstand? Ottawahitech (talk) 12:42, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Ottawahitech Oh, this is something from template. If the user being noticed is an IP user, then these will show up. Otherwise it will be (I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Ricardo Caté, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but it may not satisfy Wikiquote's criteria for inclusion, for the reasons given in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikiquote is not" and Wikiquote's deletion policy).) SheSaid
[edit]Hello lightskinned male. IF you are participating into the sheSaid campaign, could you please make sure to put at least one #shesaid in the comment area when you save the article you wrote ? This would permit us to track directly participation. Thanks for your help :) Of course, IF you are not participating, please disregard my comment. Anthere (talk) 22:13, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Okay will do - A23423413 (talk) 14:06, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Should I add that tag to pages I created over the last few months, or just start doing it for new pages from now on? - A23423413 (talk) 16:12, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hello. Only the ones from now. The campaign started October 1st. I will add the tags to the pages between Oct 1 till now. I must say I am amazed by the number and quality of your entries... Anthere (talk) 19:23, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry for butting in here: Shouldn't participants in the #she said campaign also add themselves to Wikiquote:SheSaid#Participants? I am not clear on the politics Ottawahitech (talk) 16:21, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- That would be great too ! Anthere (talk) 18:33, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
